BADATEL: Development of Curiosity and Key Competencies through an Educational Game

Provider: Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA ČR)
Programme: SIGMA Programme for the Support of Applied Research and   Innovation
Call: 10. VS – DC3 (SHUV)
Implementation Period: 08/2025–07/2028
PID: TQ23000125

Project Objectives and Description:

The primary objective of the project is to foster the development of curiosity in lower secondary school pupils as a natural pathway to acquiring key 21st-century competencies. Curiosity acts as an intrinsic engine of learning, naturally driving the development of critical thinking, creative problem-solving skills, adaptability to unpredictable changes, and an active approach to lifelong learning. We aim to achieve these goals through the development and implementation of an educational RPG (Role-Playing Game), designing an engaging environment that motivates children to explore and experiment. To evaluate the impact on curiosity and key competencies, we will employ a mixed-methods research approach, bridging insights from psychology and pedagogy with the practical needs of schools.
