Roman Lyach has been a Senior Researcher at Scio Research since 2023, focusing on researching curiosity in children and young adults. Since 2025, he has led a major project (OP JAK 2025–2028) dedicated to fostering curiosity and creativity in children.
He holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from the Faculty of Science at Charles University. Previously, he spent nearly five years at the research institute INESAN, including three years as Head of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Department.
He has completed research fellowships at prestigious international institutions, such as the Leibniz Institute and the Potsdam Institute (Germany), the University of Algarve (Portugal), the University of Exeter (UK), and the Nature Research Centre (Lithuania).
He has successfully led over ten research projects (primarily funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, TAČR) and authored more than thirty scientific papers in prestigious high-impact international journals (e.g. Nature Food and Scientific Data). He regularly presents at both Czech and international scientific conferences and popularises research findings for the general public through science magazines.
