Mgr. Zlata Hokrová, Ph.D. graduated as a secondary school teacher of Czech and German language and earned her doctorate in German language at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. In academia, she worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied German Studies and simultaneously at the Institute for Language Preparation, both at the University of West Bohemia in Plzen. Later, her professional path expanded into lifelong learning, where she worked as a project coordinator and methodologist, primarily focusing on developing innovative educational approaches.
She co-authored Czech and German digital educational resources in history and social studies, created to support modern teaching methods and open new pathways to learning for pupils. In her work, she enjoys finding connections between different disciplines and strives to make learning not only meaningful for pupils and students, but something they perceive as an important part of life.
Currently, she works as a learning facilitator at ScioŠkola Plzen (a Czech alternative school), where she works with children at primary and lower secondary levels. As a learning facilitator, she finds the greatest joy in supporting children’s natural curiosity, independence and responsibility, whilst helping to create an environment where everyone can develop at their own pace.
Within the Ethics Committee of ScioResearch, she brings not only her experience from academic and school practice, but also a sensitive perspective on education as a space for respect, openness and trust.
